  R. Kirkwood Colton
Assistant Secretary

Kirk Colton was appointed to the Easton Suburban Water Authority Board of Directors in 2003. He currently serves as Assistant Secretary and a member of the Executive Committee, the Personnel Committee and the Risk Management Committee.

Mr. Colton has an extensive background in education and program development. In 1989, he was recruited to develop a Parents' Committee at Lehigh University. In that capacity, he selected and recruited chairs and committee members, developed promotion and communication materials, planned, coordinated and conducted committee and presidential dinners, orientation programs, fundraising campaigns, recruitment initiatives and more.

He was also integrally involved in expanding the committee's function to include executives-in-residence, internships, externships, event hosting, admissions outreach and recruiting. Throughout his tenure at Lehigh, Mr. Colton has held a number of leadership roles and responsibilities and in 2004 and 2010 received the Lehigh University Tradition of Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the University.

Prior to joining Lehigh University, Mr. Colton was the principal at Notre Dame High School in Easton, as well as a former Spanish teacher at Bethlehem Catholic High School in Bethlehem. He received his Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Lafayette College, a master's degree in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Lehigh University. In his early adult years, he was also a lieutenant in the United States Army, serving his country in Germany.

Mr. Colton retired from Lehigh University in January, 2011 and returned to his alma mater part-time in the office of Alumni Affairs. He has been and is active in a variety of civic and community organizations: former member and chair of the Children's Home of Easton, former chair of the Easton Catholic Elementary School Board, currently the Vice President of the Tau Chapter (Lafayette College) of Zeta Psi Fraternity, member of the Knights of Columbus, and 14 year member of the National Parents' Fund Raising Conference Executive Committee. Mr. Colton is a member of the Parish Council and also a lector and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Easton.
