R. Kirkwood Colton

Kirk Colton was appointed to the Easton Suburban Water Authority Board of Directors in 2003. He currently serves on the Buildings and Grounds Committee, the Personnel Committee and the Risk Management Committee.

Mr. Colton has an extensive background in education and program development. In 1989, he was recruited to develop a Parents’ Committee at Lehigh University – a post he continues to hold today. In that capacity, he selected and recruited chairs and committee members, developed promotion and communication materials, planned, coordinated and conducted committee and presidential dinners, orientation programs, fundraising		  

campaigns, recruitment initiatives and more.

He was also integrally involved in expanding the committee’s function to include executives-in-residence, Internships, externships, event hosting, admissions outreach and recruiting. Throughout his tenure at Lehigh, Mr. Colton has held a number of leadership roles and responsibilities and in 2004 received the Lehigh University Tradition of Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the University.

Prior to joining Lehigh University, Mr. Colton was the principal at Notre Dame High School in Easton, as well as a former Spanish teacher at Bethlehem Catholic High School in Bethlehem. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Lafayette College, a master’s degree in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master’s of Education from Lehigh University. In his early adult years, he was also a lieutenant in the United States Army, serving his country in Germany.

Mr. Colton is active in a variety of civic and community organizations including the Children’s Home of Easton, the Easton Catholic Elementary School Board, Knights of Columbus, and the National Parents’ Fundraising Conference Executive Committee. Mr. Colton is also a lector and eucharistic minister at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
