He was also integrally involved in expanding the committee’s function to include executives-in-residence,
Internships, externships, event hosting, admissions outreach and recruiting. Throughout his tenure at
Lehigh, Mr. Colton has held a number of leadership roles and responsibilities and in 2004 received the
Lehigh University Tradition of Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the
University.
Prior to joining Lehigh University, Mr. Colton was the principal at Notre Dame High School in Easton,
as well as a former Spanish teacher at Bethlehem Catholic High School in Bethlehem. He received his
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Lafayette College, a master’s degree in Spanish from the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master’s of Education from Lehigh University. In his early
adult years, he was also a lieutenant in the United States Army, serving his country in Germany.
Mr. Colton is active in a variety of civic and community organizations including the Children’s Home
of Easton, the Easton Catholic Elementary School Board, Knights of Columbus, and the National Parents’
Fundraising Conference Executive Committee. Mr. Colton is also a lector and eucharistic minister at
St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
