When you sign up for water service from Easton Suburban Water Authority, we supply your home or
business with a water meter that tracks the amount of water you use. Your usage is calculated by
reading the property's water meter. You are responsible for protecting the water meter against
damage due to freezing, hot water, negligence and other problems.
Typically, we will read your water meter using a radio read system. A transmitter allows us to read
your water meter by a radio frequency. Only our meter reading equipment can activate the transmitter.
We turn it on when we take a reading and it goes off automatically when the reading is completed.
Radio read systems help ensure accuracy and speed in the meter reading process and are required for all
future meters.
In order for us to read your meter using a radio read system, you must ensure that your meter is free from
obstacles or landscaping that obstruct our ability to read or maintain your meter. If we cannot get
a meter reading remotely, we will contact you to set up an appointment to read your meter. To learn
how to read your meter yourself, click on the link. If we cannot obtain a meter reading,
we may estimate your reading based on historical data for your property. Click on the link to learn more
about
estimated meter readings. We make all reasonable efforts to ensure that you have an
actual meter reading every billing cycle.
For most customers, readings are taken on a quarterly basis. Some customers, because of the large volume
of water they consume, have meters that are read monthly. Once your meter is read, the amount of water
you used during the current billing cycle is recorded to your account and your bill is issued accordingly.
To make sure that the right readings are posted to the right accounts, our staff is trained to match the
meter number, meter ID and radio read number to each account record.
We do all we can to make sure your bill reflects an accurate meter reading. If you suspect that your
meter reading is inaccurate, you can request a meter test. Click to learn more about
meter tests, or complete an online form to
request a meter test. You can also contact our office at 610-258-7181 Monday through
Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to request a meter test.
